5 Neighborhood Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I am so excited to celebrate with my family this year. Speaking of celebrating with a large group of people… Have you ever wondered why thanksgiving is the one holiday during the Holiday Season that doesn’t involve the entire neighborhood? One Month Old

Young Sir turned one month old today. I can’t believe it’s been a whole month already! This past month has gone by so quickly. With everything that has been going on, I feel like I have almost missed this month. Lets face it I was pretty drugged up for the first two weeks of his life. However, even with all the drugs we still got to know each other pretty well this month. Continue reading “One Month Old”

10 Easiest Ways to Induce Labor

Since today is my due date, and my little man has yet to arrive I decided to do a bit of research to see if there’s any way I can speed up his delivery. But I am also a firm believer that he will come out only when he is good and ready (or with the help of medical professionals). So I found the easiest ways to induce labor and I’m going to try some of these.   Continue reading “10 Easiest Ways to Induce Labor”

Halloween Sugar Cookies

I have always loved the look of royal icing on cookies. If done right it can really make something impressive. But sometimes it’s more fun to make something slightly less impressive but much more fun. That’s when I came up with this Halloween Sugar Cookie recipe. Continue reading “Halloween Sugar Cookies”

What to Ask on Your Hospital Tour

I was so excited to go on my hospital tour and it was actually a lot of fun. Our tour group was very small just two other couples, one was a set of first time parents and the other couple had five other children. It was nice to have a mix of experiences. Sunday Dutch Oven Dinner

Most Sundays at our house are filled with cooking, church meetings, and hair spray. But this Sunday I decided to take my hubby up to the mountains and just spend a relaxing day.

19 Retro Inspired Stocking Stuffers

Now that all my siblings are grown up and have families of their own, Christmas gifting has changed. Instead of giving gifts to each member of the family, we decided to exchange stockings. Each year we randomly select another family member to give to that year and fill a stocking with some of their favorite goodies. This year I’d like to try out some retro inspired stocking stuffers for my loved ones. So I have compiled a list of stocking stuffers that you may have found hanging above your fireplace in years gone past. Continue reading “19 Retro Inspired Stocking Stuffers”

The Easiest Dog Cake You Will Ever Make

It happened again, the 4th of July snuck up on me, and I forgot to make a birthday cake for my oldest pup. I know I’m a terrible mother. Oh well. After complaining to my husband that I had forgotten he reminded me that I could still make her one. Which of course I hadn’t considered. But it had to be simple. We don’t have air conditioning right now and I couldn’t bear to sit in the kitchen with the oven on. So I came up with what is so far my favorite dog cake yet. Continue reading “The Easiest Dog Cake You Will Ever Make”

Camping Essentials Checklist

Growing up my mom would take my siblings and me camping at least once a year. We had a group of friends and we would head out every summer. Somehow we always had everything we needed for camping, the magic camping fairy would prepare all out clothes, gear and food and we would just pack the car and leave. It wasn’t until I was freezing cold on a mountaintop with my brand new husband that I realized just how much work that camping fairy *cough, cough* mom…. Did before each trip. Birthday Cake Your Pups will Howl For

Ever since I brought my first puppy home, I have been known as the crazy dog lady. I love to spoil my pups and I think they enjoy it as well. Pair that with my love of birthdays and you have a doggie birthday party. And what do you need at a birthday party? A birthday cake, of course. For Indi’s First Birthday, hubby and I were selling fireworks (She was born on the fourth of july). So her cake was unimpressive. We didn’t get to give her a proper celebration until she was four, so we did it up right. Since then I’ve come up with the perfect pup-cake recipe that my dogs really love.  Continue reading “Birthday Cake Your Pups will Howl For”

What To Stock Up On Before Baby

I am a list maker. If I don’t have some sort of list in front of me, I probably won’t get anything done, or I’ll forget half of what I need. So naturally when I got pregnant I started making lists like this one. Lots of people warned me about making this list, because I won’t know how big baby is going to be. But what they don’t understand is that some people, like me, have to have lists. Otherwise I will go completely insane. Besides I can just return what I don’t want right….. 50’s style bridal shower

I absolutely love bridal showers. It is one of the few times we get to gather as women to share our wisdom with the next brave soul to earn her very own MRS. I was able to throw my Sister-in-law’s bridal shower along with some other fabulous ladies and it was a blast. I think my own obsession with kitch influenced the theme more than anything else but it turned out great nonetheless. Continue reading “50’s style bridal shower”

The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby: Part Two

This is Meal #2 in my meal prep for baby series. Meal #1 was a yummy sausage lasagna. But anyway, here we go. My mother has been making this Mac & Cheese since I was a tiny baby and it’s still one of my favorites. When mom would say she was making Mac & Cheese for dinner, the next question would always be “What Kind?” to which she would reply “The Good Kind.” And trust me, it is the good kind. The best part is it’s amazingly simple to make. Continue reading “The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby: Part Two”

The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby

This is the first post in my meal prep for baby series. I am so excited to get my freezer stash going. It will be so nice not to have to worry about making a nice comforting dinner and wrangling a new born. I have been thinking about prepping meals for a while now but every time I thought about, coming up with a menu, then spending a bunch of money all at once, then bringing all those groceries home and cooking a bazillion meals all at once…. I would completely lose interest. So instead I made a list of 10 meals my family loves. Now once or twice a week I will buy enough ingredients to make 2 or 3 batches of one of the meals, that one we can eat one for dinner and I can put the extra one or two in the freezer for later. The Inside Scoop On Dog Food

We first brought home our tiny bulldog puppy, determined to do everything exactly right. Starting with her food. So we bought her the most expensive dry food in the store and were sure we were making the right decision. Then life kicked in and we couldn’t afford to spend as much on her food. Now it was time to do some research and decide what would be the second best. Turns out after doing some digging, even the crazy expensive dog food wasn’t necessarily what was best for her.
