DIY Messenger Bag

Right before my freshman year in college I was looking for a very specific bag to carry all my school supplies in. I wanted a messenger bag big enough to fit all my books and my laptop with a few pockets and a place to put some pencils for easy access. Unfortunately all the bags I found were too small or too expensive. I figured it was time to put my sewing skills to good use and designed my perfect bag. T Continue reading “DIY Messenger Bag”

Do’s and Don’t’s Before Your First Doctor Appointment

Congratulations! You’re expecting! Now what? Well first you should get an appointment with an OBGYN to check on the little one. It may be a couple weeks until they can get you in based on how many weeks pregnant you are. I was in denial, so I didn’t take a pregnancy test until I was about eight weeks pregnant. Which was actually great for me because, I only had to wait a couple days to go to my first doctor’s appointment. But Boy-Oh-Boy were those few days excruciating. I am not a patient person and waiting a few days for an appointment was a nightmare. So like any crazy person I spent hours online trying to find out what I needed to know before  stepping foot the in doctors office. The good news is you don’t really need to do anything. The bad news is you don’t have anything to do while you wait. Continue reading “Do’s and Don’t’s Before Your First Doctor Appointment”

Camping Essentials Checklist

Growing up my mom would take my siblings and me camping at least once a year. We had a group of friends and we would head out every summer. Somehow we always had everything we needed for camping, the magic camping fairy would prepare all out clothes, gear and food and we would just pack the car and leave. It wasn’t until I was freezing cold on a mountaintop with my brand new husband that I realized just how much work that camping fairy *cough, cough* mom…. Did before each trip. DIY Doggie Cooling Mat

Summer is tough on my two English Bulldogs, and this summer we’re all sweating it out without air conditioning. I felt so bad for my pups, I needed to find a way to keep them cool. I found a few awesome looking products, cooling vests and mats. But of course my brain is always set to DIY and I thought to myself “why pay $50 bucks for that when I could make one myself?” and that’s just what I did. This cooling mat is sooo easy my dogs could probably do it themselves. The best part is That I made it using things I already have around the house. Continue reading “DIY Doggie Cooling Mat”

Birthday Cake Your Pups will Howl For

Ever since I brought my first puppy home, I have been known as the crazy dog lady. I love to spoil my pups and I think they enjoy it as well. Pair that with my love of birthdays and you have a doggie birthday party. And what do you need at a birthday party? A birthday cake, of course. For Indi’s First Birthday, hubby and I were selling fireworks (She was born on the fourth of july). So her cake was unimpressive. We didn’t get to give her a proper celebration until she was four, so we did it up right. Since then I’ve come up with the perfect pup-cake recipe that my dogs really love.  Continue reading “Birthday Cake Your Pups will Howl For”

Crate and Rotate: A Simple Solution To Dog Fights

When my oldest pup turned three we brought a new puppy into the house. How fun a new puppy! Everything was going great until the pup was almost a year old. Then out of nowhere their playful fighting turned into the real deal. For a while it was just annoying. Then our older pup started getting little cuts. But again I didn’t think it was serious, until one of her ears started swelling up. Continue reading “Crate and Rotate: A Simple Solution To Dog Fights”

41 Things To Do Before Baby

I have an unhealthy obsession with to-do lists. I will take more time coming up with things to put on my list, than I do actually accomplishing what I wrote down. So true to form I made an extensive list of things to do before our little man arrives. I wrote down what I could think of off the top of my head and then spent another half an hour searching the web for more things that I was sure I needed to do but couldn’t think of myself. Then I decided to list it here because I can’t imagine I’m the only crazy list lady that needs a little To-Do inspiration. A few things will only apply to my situation but they might remind you of something else you’ve inevitably forgotten. Continue reading “41 Things To Do Before Baby”

Baby Moon on Any Budget

I love the idea of going on a baby moon. One last trip away just the two of you without worrying about any babies left at home. However with everything we need to get ready for baby to arrive there’s not a lot of cash left for a vacation. Which means it’s time to get clever. Continue reading “Baby Moon on Any Budget”

4 Ways to Involve Dad in Pregnancy

The moment we found out we were having a baby my husband has been ecstatic, and terrified and worried, and so have I. The advantage I have, is getting all the attention. I think sometimes dads are overlooked in the whole pregnancy and childbirth process, which is silly because their lives are about to be changed just as much as the mom’s life but they don’t get the perks of having everyone fawn all over them for nine months before the baby arrives. Which got me thinking about how I can involve my husband in my pregnancy. Here’s what I came up with. Continue reading “4 Ways to Involve Dad in Pregnancy”

What To Stock Up On Before Baby

I am a list maker. If I don’t have some sort of list in front of me, I probably won’t get anything done, or I’ll forget half of what I need. So naturally when I got pregnant I started making lists like this one. Lots of people warned me about making this list, because I won’t know how big baby is going to be. But what they don’t understand is that some people, like me, have to have lists. Otherwise I will go completely insane. Besides I can just return what I don’t want right….. Bare Minimum Baby Needs

I see lots of articles claiming to be what you really need for your baby when he or she comes home. But each one has things I don’t necessarily want or need to have. I talked with lots of other moms and grandmothers to see what I actually NEED to have, and turns out, it’s very simple. Continue reading “Bare Minimum Baby Needs”

50’s style bridal shower

I absolutely love bridal showers. It is one of the few times we get to gather as women to share our wisdom with the next brave soul to earn her very own MRS. I was able to throw my Sister-in-law’s bridal shower along with some other fabulous ladies and it was a blast. I think my own obsession with kitch influenced the theme more than anything else but it turned out great nonetheless. Continue reading “50’s style bridal shower”

How to Have a Safe and Stellar Firework Show

The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby: Part Two

This is Meal #2 in my meal prep for baby series. Meal #1 was a yummy sausage lasagna. But anyway, here we go. My mother has been making this Mac & Cheese since I was a tiny baby and it’s still one of my favorites. When mom would say she was making Mac & Cheese for dinner, the next question would always be “What Kind?” to which she would reply “The Good Kind.” And trust me, it is the good kind. The best part is it’s amazingly simple to make. Continue reading “The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby: Part Two”

The Easy Way to Prep Freezer Meals Before Baby

This is the first post in my meal prep for baby series. I am so excited to get my freezer stash going. It will be so nice not to have to worry about making a nice comforting dinner and wrangling a new born. I have been thinking about prepping meals for a while now but every time I thought about, coming up with a menu, then spending a bunch of money all at once, then bringing all those groceries home and cooking a bazillion meals all at once…. I would completely lose interest. So instead I made a list of 10 meals my family loves. Now once or twice a week I will buy enough ingredients to make 2 or 3 batches of one of the meals, that one we can eat one for dinner and I can put the extra one or two in the freezer for later. Surviving a Summer Pregnancy Without A/C

Everyone knows someone who has had to try to survive pregnancy without air conditioning. Whether it’s a camping trip, a job that requires you to be outside or god forbid the A/C unit in your home is either nonexistent or broken. Which is unfortunately what happened to me just as I entered my third trimester. Since keeping cool is fresh on my mind I thought I would come up with a few tips to help my other sweaty sisters in their hour of need. Continue reading “Surviving a Summer Pregnancy Without A/C”

The Inside Scoop On Dog Food

We first brought home our tiny bulldog puppy, determined to do everything exactly right. Starting with her food. So we bought her the most expensive dry food in the store and were sure we were making the right decision. Then life kicked in and we couldn’t afford to spend as much on her food. Now it was time to do some research and decide what would be the second best. Turns out after doing some digging, even the crazy expensive dog food wasn’t necessarily what was best for her.
